YUL
Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau (YUL) is the only major passenger airport deserving Montrรฉal's. It has a single terminal but operates direct flights to 50+ countries.
Getting in and out
YUL airport is located about an hour from the Montreal city center.
Taxi & rideshare
Uber is currently available at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau. If you never tried it, you could get your first ride for free.
Montreal taxi are usually metered but there's a special $40 flat rate between the airport and the city. Rideshare like Uber can still be ordered legally and should cost a bit less than the regular taxis. Lyft just launched service in May2019 and a new local player called Eva just started offering rides from YUL.
Public transit
The quickest and cheapest way to get downtown is with the 747 bus. This express line deserves Lionel-Groulx and Beri-Uqam metro stations in under an hour and runs 24/7. The $10 daily pass can be purchased from one of the STM machines directly in the arrival hall. If you choose to purchase your bus ticket on board only payment by cash is allowed.
The new light-rail system (REM) should open in Fall 2021 and properly connect the airport with the city.
Parking & rental cars
There are lots of different parking options available depending on your needs (short/long-term). For a smooth and free pickup from a friend, it's best to avoid the taxi madness of the Arrivals and meet at the Departure level. It's just a elevator ride away and very short term parking (~10 minutes) shouldn't be a problem. There's otherwise always parking available right by the Arrival and Departure.
Essentials
Getting around
With a single terminal building, it's fairly easy to get around Trudeau airport. If you board a flight to (or connecting) in the US, you'll handle US immigration procedures in Montreal. This effectively takes a bit more time to board, but saves you precious time on arrival (or on a tight connection).
Food
You'll find plenty of options both airside and landside (before security). Restaurants are scattered around so it's good to look up the directory if you have specific cravings or restrictions. We personally recommend to try a famous Montrรฉal bagel while you're here! There are restaurants airside in every areas.
Wifi
There is free Wifi throughout the airport. You might need to reconnect with a different email after 60 minutes.
Local SIM
SIM cards and prepaid plans can be purchased relatively easily. At the arrivals level, you can find a Lucky Mobile kiosk that offers SIM cards and packages. At the arrivals level, ICE International Currency Exchange also offers SIM cards with Telus.
Cash & ATMs
You'll easily find ATM accepting every major credits cards at YUL airport. Changing money at the airport, altought usually simple, is almost always a bad deal. If you plan on changing a sizable sum, it's really worth using TransferWise to save on the exchange rate and fees.
Flight deals from Montreal
All prices estiamtes are for round trips, in cad , inclusives of taxes.
